Mascarada Encuentro Milonguero

A weekend of friendship, connection and long embraces

For those who love to dance as if they’ve always known each other.
Everything in one place – dancing, eating, socializing and sleeping under the same roof.
Small, intimate, and full of heart.

About

A tango encuentro for those who come not only to dance, but to truly connect.
Mascarada has been a cosy tango gathering since 2020, created for experienced milongueros who cherish close embrace, warm atmosphere and genuine connection.

A small event – maximum 130 participants – where friendship and tango blend naturally over a long weekend of dancing and socializing together.

A lovely hotel just 60 km from Budapest, with a perfect wooden dance floor, delicious food and a welcoming community.

Everything happens here – dancing, eating, socializing and sleeping under the same roof. No rushing between venues, no searching for meals or accommodation – just the joy of dancing and being together.

Kindly note that our hotel can only host 120 guests. Once it’s full, we may offer up to 10 additional spots without accommodation.
Whether it’s your first time or you’ve danced with us before, you’ll feel part of the Mascarada family from the very first tanda.

We can’t wait to share these three magical days with you.

Abrazos,
Aniko, Tamas & the Mascarada Team

Meet the organisers

Mascarada was born from Aniko’s two passions – dancing tango and creating heartfelt moments for others.

After years of dancing across Europe, she found her home in the close embrace – and among milongueros who share her love for trust, connection and warmth.

Her husband, Tamas, isn’t a dancer, but it was through Mascarada that their paths crossed – he worked for a hotel where the event took place.

And today they build it side by side, pouring their hearts into creating a weekend that truly feels like family.

Meet the DJ-s

Our wonderful DJs who’ll make the weekend unforgettable.

Kristof Elst

DJ Kristof Elst

Sabelotodo (Wiseguy) is the stage name of Kristof Elst (NL/BE/US). Kristof started out in tango as a dancer but his background as amateur performing musician and composer meant he was soon taken by the simple and yet complex nature of tango music. He started collecting tango music and playing local practicas and milongas. He has played milongas, marathons and encuentros in Europe, North America and Asia.

Kristof focuses on traditional tango music from the 1920-1950’s. Music is played from his vision as a performing musician where the music is meant to entertain the dancers. He has a keen eye and ear for the energy on the dance floor. Cortinas are an integral part of the set and help in setting the flow and ambiance of the evening. With his wife Maria, he is also the organiser of an encuentro milonguero “El Encuentro Que Faltaba” in the Netherlands.

Theo Chatzipetros

DJ Teo Chatzipetros

How he thinks about DJ-ing:
„When I’m djing I like to relate with the people on the dancefloor, I always try to guess which can be the best choice in order to create a nice wave and I’m making my selection always on the fly, track by track (I do not use „fixed” tandas). I often think about the fact that some couples can have the best tanda ever during my set and that’s why each tanda should be constructed having a sense, a path, a sort of uniqueness that can match with the uniqueness of dancing. The music selection is predominantly classical and never predictable, spans the entire period of the tango and sometimes I like to surprise the dancers by proposing some rare tracks. The aim is always satisfying the dancers: nice music for dancing, warm atmosphere to enjoy. I’m using lossless files imported from my collection of CDs and LPs and I work with a sound card and professional software in order to guarantee a high sound quality. I was a member of the team who organized milongas and the encuentro at Impruneta, the first one in europe (2005-2013). I started to Dj in 2007 and since then I have played in regular milongas, encuentros, marathons and festivals all across Europe.”

Tomaž Leskovšek (SLO)

DJ Tomaz Leskovsek

For me, dancing tango has always been about truly knowing and feeling the music—it’s the heartbeat of the dance. This deep connection naturally led me to explore the world of DJing, where I could share my love for tango in a new way.
I’ve been fortunate to DJ at well-known encuentros and marathons across Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Austria, Italy, Albania, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, and Germany. In my sets, I focus on the timeless beauty of Golden Age tangos, tailoring the music to the gentle embrace and fluid movements of the dancers.
While I mostly stay within the cherished borders of this golden repertoire, I also enjoy occasionally stepping beyond, adding a carefully chosen surprise to the evening. My goal is to create a milonga atmosphere that radiates joy and connection, with well-curated cortinas and a blend of lively moments and sweet, soulful emotions.

Fabiola Loik

DJ Fabiola Loik

Fabiola is one of those DJs who quietly shape the atmosphere of an encuentro.
She has been part of many beautiful tango weekends over the years, always focusing on the music itself rather than being in the spotlight. When asked to introduce herself, she simply says:
“Since 2007 I try simply to offer traditional Argentine tango nice to dance. I have chosen the music for several milongas and international encuentros.”
Sometimes, that’s all that really needs to be said.

Boštjan Rezar

DJ Bostjan

Many of you know Boštjan as a dancer from international encuentros; in recent years, he has been sharing his love for tango music as a DJ at local milongas in Slovenia.
A true lover of tango music, he focuses on creating tandas that are easy to dance to and feel good in the embrace.
This is how he describes what you can expect from his tandas:
“Get ready for some seriously sweet tandas.”

Balázs Gyenis

DJ Balazs Gyenis

First and foremost, Balázs is a passionate lover of Argentine tango music. He reads about, collects, and listens to all in this genre.
Balazs prefers rhythmic and emotionally charged music from the Golden Age but as a DJ he plays an overall balanced repertoire with an eye on dynamic variation between tandas and consistency within them.
Balazs played sets in 300+ milongas and 150+ larger, multi-day, international (marathon/encuentro/festival) events all around the world.
Balazs is also the creator of the most listened-to online tango radio, Argentine Tango Radio
